The insulin-like growth factors (GFs) belonged to the insulin gene family, are mitogenic polypeptide growth factors that stimulate theproliferation and survival of various cel types including muscle, bone, and cartilage tissue in vitro. The lGFs are similar by structure andunction to insulin, but have a much higher growth-promoting activity than insulin.
