IL-2 is a powerful immunoregulatory lymphokine produced by T cells in response to antigenic or mitogenic stimulation. IL-2/IL-2R signaling is required for T cell proliferation and other fundamental functions that are essential for the immune response. IL-2 stimulates growth and differentiation of B cells, NK cells, lymphokine-activated killer cells, monocytes, macrophages and oligodendrocytes. Recombinant Human IL-2 is a 15.5 kDa protein, containing 134 amino acid residues including one intrachain disulfide bond.

| Description |
| The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This protein is a potent epithelial cell-specific growth factor, whose mitogenic activity is predominantly exhibited in keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts and endothelial cells. KGF (FGF-7) signals through FGFR 2b. KGF (FGF-7) plays a role in kidney and lung development, as well as in angiogenesis and wound healing. |
